Hand-Build a Ceramic Birdhouse
July 18th & July 19th
Time: 9 am to 12 pm
Class Schedule: 2 days (7 hours Total)

Join artist Ana Balzan for a creative two-day workshop where you’ll hand-build a unique birdhouse using clay slabs. Along the way, you’ll also learn the beautiful sgraffito technique to carve your own decorative design.
No experience needed—just bring your imagination!
After the workshop, your pieces will be left to dry before going through bisque and glaze firings (this may take
1–2 weeks). Once ready, you’ll receive an email to pick up your finished birdhouse at Artist Home Studio.

- What to Expect - Day 1: Saturday, July 18th from 9 AM to 1 PM
We’ll cut and build the birdhouse pieces, learning how to successfully attach the walls and roof.
Ana will demonstrate the sgraffito technique on clay. - What to Expect - Day 2: Sunday, July 19th from 9 AM to 12 PM
You’ll add color to your birdhouse using slips and underglazes, then create your own sgraffito design.
- What Students need to finish bird house:
• Wire to hang bird house. Artist will show the materials needed the last day of the workshop. - Materials included:
• clay, underglazes, color slips, clear glaze, bisque firing and glaze fire
