Coil to Thread: Building & Weaving a Clay Po

This two-step workshop explores the relationship between clay and natural fiber. 
No experience needed.

What to Expect
  • Day 1st — Saturday, June 6th (9 AM – 12 PM)
​Participants will build a vessel using the coiling technique, focusing on form and structure.
You will learn how to refine your piece by cleaning and smoothing the surface, then create openings in the clay that will later allow the natural thread to be woven through the form.
The pieces will be bisque-fired before the 2nd class.


  • Day 2nd — Saturday, June 13th (9 AM – 11 AM)
Participants will learn how to weave natural fiber into their ceramic vessel, creating a dialogue between earth and thread. This workshop emphasizes process, handwork, and the beauty of organic materials. It invites slow making, material exploration, and a deeper connection between clay and fiber. No prior experience is necessary.
​You will take your finished piece the 2nd day.

Materials included:
  • will provide clay, tools, bisque firing, large eye sewing needles and location.​
What Students need to bring:
  • Participants: need to bring on the 2nd day - 2mm Natural Jute Twine String and 8mm Natural Jute Twine String.
