Description In this workshop, we will explore the timeless tradition of goddess figures found in ancient Greece and how they symbolize strength, femininity, and identity. Each participant will create a small clay sculpture representing the goddess within themselves—a reflection of their own qualities, values, or aspirations. This workshop offers a journey of self-discovery, connecting the rich history of ancient goddess figures to our own modern identities. Outline - From 9 am to 12 pm
Introduction to Goddess Figures: A brief presentation on ancient Greek goddesses and their symbolic meanings
Self-Reflection Activity: Participants will take a moment to think about their own personal strengths, qualities, or ideals they want to represent in their goddess sculpture.
Demonstration: Show participants how to create simple, stylized goddess forms in clay, focusing on shape, texture, and small details. Encouraging creative freedom.
Sculpting Session: Participants begin creating their small goddess sculptures based on their reflections.
- From 12 pm to 1 pm
Lunch Break: Midway through the workshop, we will take a break to enjoy a delicious Greek-inspired lunch. Savor a variety of Greek tapas alongside a fresh, vibrant Greek salad, & refreshment as we continue our reflection and conversation in a relaxed, communal setting.
- From 1 pm to 2 pm
Finishing Touches: Discuss surface treatments like adding texture, carving, or applying underglazes to enhance their pieces.
- From 2 pm to 3 pm
Group Reflection: After the sculptures are complete, invite participants to share their goddess figures and the story behind them. (If desire)
